Old Fort Western
Built in 1754, Old Fort Western, is America's oldest surviving wooden fort. Located at the head of navigation on the Kennebec River, Fort Western served as a fortified storehouse during the Seven Years War. The fort also hosted infamous traitor Benedict Arnold's army when it marched against Quebec in 1775. Captain James Howard, head of the fort, operated a store in the Fort. Perkins Arboretum
The Perkins Arboretum was established in 1946 on 128 acres of natural habitat used for teaching and research. The trails at the Arboretum are open to the public. Preserved in the natural state as much as possible, the Arboretum trees include apples, white ash, aspen, brirch, beech, black cherry, dogwood, hemlock, maple, oak, pine, as well as many other types of plants. 5600 Mayflower Hill Drive in Waterville.

Redington Museum & Apothecary
The Redington Museum & Apothecary and Waterville historical Society are housed in the elegant 1814 Federal-style Redington home. Asa Redington, a veteran of the Revolutionary War, was a member of George Washington's elite Honor Guard. The museum offers a comprehensive view of Waterville life over the course of the past two centuries. Artifacts include furniture, household items, historical toys, tools, weapons, and more.
