Children's Museum of Portsmouth

Emerson-Wilcox House
Emerson-Wilcox House, center of town on York St., has served as a tavern, general store, tailor shop, post office and private residence. The 1742 building contains a series of period rooms furnished with American antiques dating 1750-1850. Among the rare items is a complete set of crewelwork bedhangings made about 1750 by York resident Mary Bulman.

Fort McClary State Historic Site
Fort McClary State Historic Site covers 27 acres about 2 mi. e. on SR 103. The initial fortifications were erected in the early 18th century; the current blockhouse was built about 1844 and modified in the 1860s. Picnicking is permitted. Call (207) 384-5160 for more information.

Jefferds' Tavern
Jefferds' Tavern is just off US 1A, on Lindsay Rd. facing the Old Burying Ground. The tavern is an education and information center where all tours begin. Built by Capt. Samuel Jefferds in 1750 in Wells, the structure was moved to York in 1939. Call (207) 363-4974 for more information.
